Frequently asked questions

Do prenuptial agreements have to be made by a notary?

Yes. Prenuptial and partnership agreements must be laid down in a notarial deed. They can be made before or during the marriage or registered partnership.

Is a will from my home country valid in the Netherlands?

Sometimes, but international inheritance rules are complex. The notary can tell you whether a Dutch will is advisable in your situation.

What is a lasting power of attorney?

It is a deed in which you appoint someone to take care of your finances or personal matters if you can no longer do so yourself.
